Kids Klub Narrative:

The Foundation was formed for charitable purposes.

I began the project after I watched a television documentary regarding Phoenix Children’s Hospital. The documentary was about how the Phoenix Children’s Hospital was expanding the facility to accommodate the fast growing population of the Phoenix area. Their plan was to build a 588 million dollar building expansion to the hospital. They also planned to increase the medical specialty fields to assist more patients.

I am personally a native of Buffalo, New York where I was treated in the cardiac unit in the Buffalo Children’s Hospital since birth. My brother and his wife recently delivered premature triplets. They were cared and treated for 2 months in the Neonatal Unit of the Buffalo Children’s Hospital. I personally have a soft spot in my heart for children who are hurting. I was one of them and understand how scared and unsure a child can feel.

With my personal experience and the love of the Phoenix area I had to help.

I called the Phoenix Hospital and met with one of their directors who gave me a tour of the hospital. I was amazed at how “state of the art” this hospital was. We all discussed my idea of starting a foundation to help with the hospital needs. The hospital was elated by my offer and help.

From my past experience with the Buffalo Children’s Hospital and their successful fundraising ideas and a yearly televised telethon it was easy for me to mirror many of the same projects that were so successful in Buffalo. I put together a plan and a proposal of my idea. I began my quest of finding the right group of people to assist with fundraising and creation of the board for the foundation.

It took me approximately nine months of interviewing and discussing my plan to potential board members. During the interviewing process I was able to put together the right group of compassionate people with various back grounds that would assist with growing the foundation.

We have and still are working from my dining room table and plan on doing that until we can grow the organization.

We have several people and business organizations commitment to get involved such as the girl scouts and elderly groups to help make stuffed sock monkeys for the sick children. We have Companies in the area that are waiting for us to get the full legal non-profit status so they can also get involved.

We are expected to be fully operational after receiving our 501C 3 status. The board of directors have worked together to create a name, logo, web-site brochures and t-shirts. We have been working together to decide the board duties and make the foundation a legal entity. We have had one small fundraising event along with personal family donations that has provided funds to pay for the legal work in making this an operational foundation.

The Foundation is working on a policy and procedure manual to keep our focus and main objective on task. As a group we have been reaching out to each of our own personal sphere of influence to promote the foundation.

Our organization will have a meeting on a monthly basis to keep the foundation growing for the sake of patients. We have planned and continue to plan what events and legal issues that we need to fulfill to make the foundation a success.

I have personally worked diligently and I am committed in making this a successful project. I personally plan to stay involved with this organization for many years to come. I am not alone in this project I have support of the Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Board of Directors, family, friends and strangers. This support has been completely volunteered.
